  1. Feb 27,  · I'm a huge Benny Goodman fan and I think "BG in Hi-Fi" is definitely his best LP recording. The Capitol BG story is good, but Hi-Fi blows it away. Hi-Fi greatly benefits from the contributions of Ruby Braff. Also, the current CD has superb extra tracks. The version of "Jumping at the Woodside" on Hi-Fi ends with the band on fire.

  5. Cornetist Ruby Braff had recorded relatively little (particularly as a leader) during the decade that preceded the release of this LP. The neglect had much more to do with his style (which falls between swing and Dixieland) and the mass public's musical tastes during the era than with any loss of quality.
